The calculation of the salt content dissolved in water includes evaporation of a water sample and weighing of the remainder. Indirect measurement of salinity is possible using conductivity/salinity meters ELMETRON . This is usually an additional function and the result of a conductivity conversion. There are two methods of indirect determination of salinity:

1. Using the coefficient by which the meter automatically calculates the obtained conductivity result. In this way, the total weight of dilute salts is determined (the so-called TDS is the total amount of dissolved solids).
2. Taking into account the actual relationship between the conductivity and the salt content in the liquid, calculated for a certain type of salt NaCl or KCl. The table of this dependency is stored in the counter's memory and is used for calculations.
